Story

The island nation of Persalt is beset on all sides by strange beasts and creatures controlled and conjured by the Necromancer Queen, once an ally of the nation. The kingdom’s defenders have been stricken by foul magic. Draining the depth of their famous magical abilities that kept the island safe. Now they fight a more traditional battle against the onslaught. An unfamiliar battle. A losing battle. They must find a new way to stand against the tide.

 

Within the gilded cage

Trapped in the castle by her father’s magic, the princess, Ragnhildr, is yet determined to aid her people in these dire times. She snuck into the castle’s magical library seeking a way to break from her cage. What she found in a dusty corner seems to be a toy for mage children to practice remote viewing and manipulation. But when using the device to view the ongoing battles, she discovered an unusual property: it counters the foul magic! And by playing the accompanying game, her own magical energies are infused in her army’s primary defenses: magically constructed towers.

 

Attendant most sharp

Gelder is a woman too old—by her own account—to be the attendant of the young princess. But neither the king nor princess will dismiss her. So attend she does. The princess is headstrong and stubborn. But Gelder’s wisdom and wit have been sharpened by age and she mercilessly deploys them against the poor girl to keep her safe. Especially during these hard times.

 

Solemn knight

A quiet man resolved to his duty to protect the royal family. He has frequently butted heads with the princess over her lax attitudes for security. It was his suggestion to the king to keep her in the castle. As the next ruler of Persalt, she must be kept safe. If anything were to happen to her, he would die. As a soldier pledged to protect the people, of course. Nothing else.

 

King of mages

Even the world’s most powerful magician, King Lighton, is afflicted by the curse upon his kingdom. He guides the battle with the aid of his generals while he gathers strength to oppose the Necromancer Queen directly. They had been friends for decades, so this turn of events troubles him greatly.

 

Former ally

Amelda, queen of Overford, a kingdom known for its bountiful harvests and talented necromancers, severed communication with their former ally and sent waves of monsters across the ocean to attack Persalt. She is reported to be on the island but there has been no explanation for her attack so far. It is inevitable she will face the king in battle.
